A Notion to Knit

Full Circle

A finished pair of socks for R. Aside from a nice new pair of handknit socks for R, I feel like they bring us full circle through many changes this year. I cast on for the first sock early one morning in the emergency room with R. It was his second time in the ER in days and they still hadn't diagnosed him correctly. Then he couldn't work for a few months and had a lot of physical therapy to get through (but dodged back surgery, even if it was close) and a change in job though it's been a happy change. Our loss of Chuy, that still hurts us both so much. Now, we've moved which is huge because of the type of space and environment change involved in the move. The move is something we were hoping for over the last year and really started pushing for after losing Chuy, but it was sudden in that we changed our requirements a little for what we wanted and found our new home, saw it, and were approved all in the same day. Part of that was due to the fact that it turned out it was the home of a friend that was moving (I'd only been here once so it didn't stand out to me upon first looking into it). There's good juju added to all of it because of that I believe. We finished with the physical move and needing to bounce between both homes on Friday. I actually slowed down on my finishing these socks because I wanted to finish them *this* weekend. So, for me, these stitches have a story.

The details ... Artyarns Supermerino on US#3, simple 2x2 ribbing. They actually took three skeins. I got really lucky and the yarn store, which is in Bend, had one skein left when I discovered that two was not enough. They were very helpful about processing the sale over the phone too!

For a treat, if you haven't discovered this, you should. SO good, it's definitely a new favorite.

Look who it is.

I really wasn't lost.  I've just had a lot of things going on.  Last time that I blogged I planned to try to meet my personal goal (again) of blogging every day for the month.  Of course, while I was travelling, that wasn't so easy.  So here I am now.

We've moved, though that makes it seem like much more progress than is accurate for now.  We still have things to do in our old home and then we need to move it but we are already in our new home.  And Candie is already in our new home, which brings me to the biggest and saddest change since I was last here.  Chuy disappeared.

It hurts my heart more than I can even begin to share, or maybe would even want to.  Even going through some photos to find a favorite for this was too much.  I've been avoiding looking at pictures.

But, Candie is here at our new home and safe.  She hasn't been outside and it's driving her crazy.  While we are doing our best to keep her happy or at least sane, it isn't in Candie's nature to stay inside.  I'm just holding out as long as I can and trying to be sure she's comfortable with this being her home.  We have a beautiful backyard and garden now and I'm hoping that will be enough to keep her interested.
