A Notion to Knit

Random Friday

1. No pictures today. I took tons of photos of the ocean (and other stuff) but I haven't uploaded them yet. I don't have enough room to do that until I remove some of the photos that are in my iPhoto right now. I'm going to work on that in a bit.

2. We saw tons, as in fields, of skunk cabbage on the drive to the coast. I'd never seen this or heard of it, but hubby knew what it was. Anyway, as you can tell I googled it and thought it was a remarkable plant considering all of the uses given. Pretty too.

3. I didn't knit the whole time we were gone even though I took two projects along with me. I plan on knitting a little bit tonight too.

4. Well, not too much at the moment but I think that's it. Happy weekend!

Otter! Today we went out for a short walk at a park that now has a footbridge that takes you from the park on one side of the river to downtown on the other side. This otter was a complete surprise, but very pleasant. I took a few other photos too but couldn't wait to share this one. The slight blur is due to zooming in on my computer, but oh my he is unbelievably cute. I am so smitten with him.

Tomorrow we are taking a short road trip for my birthday but I will drop in with photos. Yay!

There's been a lot of knitting going on lately but my top projects aren't close to being completed. I am enjoying them though. Just to recap since I haven't, you know, put my projects into Ravelry: -I'm working on the Turqui socks. Monkey socks in Socks That Rock lightweight. -Alhambra in Handmaiden Camelspin. -Flower Basket Shawl in an unknown yarn. Those are the projects at the top of my attention span at the moment. There are actually a lot more on the needles.

I don't have anything different to show right now but tomorrow I will do a photo update when I have daylight for photos. See you tomorrow.

my birthday.

Today was my birthday, a good one too.

Still sick, we went out for lunch and brought cheesecake home for this evening. It was nice though and I got lots of happy wishes sent my way. *Happyhappy* And later this week we're going to celebrate as originally planned so I can't wait for that either.

Looking at the photos it doesn't look like a whole lot but I finished the first chart. I also had to 'unknit' at least twice because I got distracted and lost a stitch. And maybe my head still isn't that clear from being sick. As I've been putting this post together, I suddenly forgot part of the html I use almost every post. Eep.

There's been a slight change of plans for tomorrow since we're both still sick plus the weather forecast changed. And the rain didn't go with our plans. But I'll have something happymaking for tomorrow anyway.

***Oh yeah, I changed needle sizes between knitting the Flower Basket Shawl before and now. Is it really noticeable? I've totally been bitten by the lace bug lately due to all the beautiful knits going on over at brokeknits.

A Friday Night

I'm watching "Motel Hell" on the Friday night scary movies that AMC shows. It's such a bad movie but not. It's strange enough that it won me over a few years ago.

Last night I made it into my third repeat of the Turqui socks. It's fun to see how the colors progress in Socks That Rock yarn. Tonight I'll knit more on them but I've also pulled out my Flower Basket Shawl that I started in January. I've only knit on it the one day that I started it so I don't have that many stitches on it yet. And I don't have any idea what the yarn is but I think it's wool. I bought it from someone's destashing a few years ago and it was without a label. But, it had been my favorite all this time.

So, that's what I've got going. Oh and a better (I think) photo of the Ruby Slipper socks. I'll be adding photos shortly. Matilda is tied up at the moment, trying to burn a DVD from iPhoto.

Turquis ... turkeys.

Newly cast on Monkeys. I'm call them Turquis, like turkeys. Yarn is Socks That Rock in Turquoise.

I am trying to get a straight 30 days of blogging again this month though I'm not participating in the official countdown of daily blogging. Anyway, I count this for myself because Typepad wouldn't open and I shutdown my computer and it didn't help. Maybe I'll turn my schedule around to get this done earlier but for now I'm still on odd sleeping hours especially with all the cold stuff I'm taking right now.

Tomorrow (!) I will have something interesting to show.

Random Wednesday

1. I am sick. So full blown sick. I can only talk in a whisper and my throat hurts so bad. It takes a lot of energy to whisper, who knew? So I haven't been 'saying' much except to cry, because I get whiny like that, and type a few sentences on my computer for hubby to read. By the way, like it makes it better, but the crying wasn't just about the cold. The combination of being sick and forgetting to take my regular stomach meds resulted in my not being able to sleep (even though I was exhausted) because I felt like I was suffocating when I tried to lie down. Even lifting my upper body up. That was the last straw that lead to me being tearful.

2. The whole entry isn't about me being sick. Promise!

3. I spilled my Alka Seltzer on my Blackberry tonight. Hopefully it will work after it dries out. It worked at first but then I could tell there was a lot of water inside and it started blinking.

4. I've been wanting to get 3 large sets of photos up on Flickr, but I insist on getting them up in the order they happened. So far I've only posted one group from a short road trip a few weeks ago. I think this is my absolute favorite of them.

Hopefully I'll feel like doing a group tomorrow and another the following day. I'm planning for the weekend as though I'll be able to do things. So, from my birthday I should have a lot more photos from another little trip. I can't wait!

5. I'm also going to try and have my sleeves done (and hoodie would be nice too but that's probably too much for now) so that I can block them this weekend. I will have space so it seems like a good opportunity.

6. I received a Scrabble dictionary in the mail today from Amazon. Yay! It was a Christmas gift from my Mom. I know, it's April. But, remember I received 2 copies of the Yarn Harlot's daily calendar (one from hubby and one from my Mom) at Christmas? So I returned my Mom's because Amazon has so much stuff and our local Borders rarely has what I'm looking for .. so the dictionary is what I wanted from Amazon. Good stuff.

7. This random thing worked out good tonight. I think so.

Ick

I don't feel good. I should have blogged earlier (always). For the last hour I've had a sore throat that's been getting worse and worse. I'm hoping it will pass like last week. Last week I had a sore throat and fever one night and then it passed. But, with R being sick since last Friday or so I think I may be done for. Ick. So, I'm whiny whinerson, sorry.

On the knitting front, I worked on the sleeves for my Central Park Hoodie a little bit this evening. And last night I picked up Alhambra again. I'm thinking about putting ends (needle caps?) on my double pointed needles for Alhambra because the straight needles are slowing me down.

One last whine, I don't want to be sick on my birthday! Just days away. Boo.
