I really haven't abandoned the blog. It's been one thing after another. First, I was trying to pull myself together for finals, for the class I may have failed. Then, DB had the camera most of an entire week (at work) so I was waiting for it. Now, this last Sunday, my laptop (which is our main computer) crashed or something. We still aren't sure what's wrong, I'm supposed to call people today for help. It says that it cannot find a C:// drive and so, won't do anything. That can't be good. DB looked into (literally) the computer yesterday to try one easy fix, but that didn't change anything. Anyway, I am going to test our desktop (what I'm on right now) to see if it can 'read' our digital camera so I can post.
By the way there are 3 main things that concern me if we can't save our hard drive. First, pictures that cannot be replaced like pictures of my grandparents. Second, replaceable but costly, the knitting patterns. Now, I know I don't accomplish a lot of knitting like most bloggers but I calculated at least $40 (that's just what I can remember though, I'm sure it's not all) of patterns I've bought online from people like Glampyre Stefanie, Knit and Tonic Wendy and Amelia Raitte's Anna. And no, I didn't print them out. I have had a policy of only printing a pattern when I was going to use it soon. A knot in my stomach, ughh. Last, my iTunes. I don't know enough about that yet, so I don't know if my purchased music will follow me to another computer? But if it doesn't that is a lot of money down the drain also. No, I don't have my iPod yet but I couldn't wait to buy one so I started using the iTunes just on the computer. I guess a bright side is that I was a little frugal, a little, so it could be worse considering how easy it becomes to click "buy, buy, buy" on iTunes. I'm sure nobody reading this knows what I'm talking about though, right.
Anyway, this is what's going on with me right now.
*Sudden thought - our files were actually in the D:// drive. I wonder if they're still lost even if C:// is done for. I'm sure I'm showing my total lack of computer knowledge.
Sorry for no knitting content. Some is coming although it may be without photos.
Hi! Your sock-pal sender, here!
Wish I could offer more help, but although you log into the store, the music is saved to your computers hard drive on itunes (I think that's correct). So it's an on-site kind of thing. I'm as guilty as others--anything I've purchased I haven't copied to CD, so it's gone if I don't do that and something should happen. The rest of it (the majority) is from my CD collection.
Pictures I would recommend storing on sites like Kodak Picture Gallery. Free, easy and safe. If anything should happen to your files at home, they can burn a DVD (for a charge) of your collection.
Oooh look! You like country music! I'm a devoted Brad Paisley fan--and growing up I listened to the best of the best--the 70's country artists!

Lots of small pattern sellers will be able to refer back to your original purchase of the pattern and will resend it to you. That's happened to me a couple times when I've foolishly misfiled something. Worth a try. But I hope your computer is okay -- the drives really should be totally separate. You might want to have a professional (or a really good amateur) help you recover them so you don't accidentally overwrite them in your efforts to get them back.
