A Notion to Knit

Desperate Pics

I haven't noticed much sun today at all - it is already back to normal gloom outside (is gloom appropriate? hmm....).  So, out of desperation to see an actual photo of knitting on my blog, I've posted one of my attempts from yesterday.  I love these socks, the color is so happy.  I'll get them into the finished knits, along with a few other things I've neglected to add and their details.  [Please ignore the busy skirt and the unweaved end on the right sock].

I did go back and fix the link about the One Skein Wonder earlier.  I also took some pics of it but I don't like the results of the lighting (and not being able to really see the Noro colors as they are) and I was competing with the self timer on the digital camera too!  I'll probably try again later tonight but more likely tomorrow.

As for knitting, now I'm off to the scarves I need to turn in next Tuesday!

I think the link to Glampyre Knits (from yesterday's entry) wasn't working. I can't correct it right now because my iPAQ won't show me link options but I'll fill it back in later today.
By the way. my One Skein Wonder is finished except for weaving in ends. I love it, though I should have gone a size smaller.

Bad Lighting

So I've taken about 8 pictures (at least) of the Fortissima Colori socks, to post now that the pair is complete.  And still, I have nothing to show you!  There is little to no light in my house, aside from the guest bedroom but even that didn't produce good pictures!  There is a ton of sunlight outside but it only shines on a very small part of my backyard and I'm very picky (read: anal) about my new knits so I'm not about to wear them out there on grass!!  Tomorrow I will try earlier in the day so I can catch more sunlight.

I'm almost through with Stefanie's One Skein Wonder pattern at Glampyre Knits. Anyway, my gauge was right on when I swatched but by the time I finish I will have used about 2 1/2 skeins of Noro Kureyon.  I think maybe my knitting got tighter (though it doesn't look like it and no I haven't checked the gauge again -that would be too obvious) which would be normal because I am a tight knitter.  However when I did my initial swatch I was able to reach gauge with a US size 8 needle as suggested - I'm just rambling on my inner thoughts about how I'm using so much yarn!  Anyway, it is very cute and I will finish it tonight - all I have to do is the ribbing.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!  There are no plans here except to knit and catch up on housework.  I'm in desperate need of clean clothes.  Ooh and there will be art homework taking up some of the weekend.  I'm SO glad that there are only 3 classes left before the term ends.  While I've enjoyed the class somewhat, I simply don't have the patience to work on drawings within the allotted time - especially since I'm having difficulty figuring out how to accomplish value within a drawing.  In my mind's eye, I know what kind of light I want to put down on paper and where, but not how to get it there.  :(   Regardless, I will end this entry with a picture of one of my favorite gestures from class - it isn't complete but I love the lines of what is complete.

    

Another Task Complete

Today I have been working on a long to do list so here I am posting a knitting pic!  This is a close up of the Mesh Shawl from the current Vogue Knitting.  The yarn is a worsted/light worsted weight rayon.  It isn't from a yarn shop so I don't really know the specifics of the yarn.

I'm still working on the Fortissima Colori socks.  Also, I'm up to the arm shaping on the vanilla hemp/wool sweater from Weekend Knits - judging by the way the weather is lately maybe I can wear it soon!

I will finish the socks by Friday and post pics.

Life's a Mess

Yes, right now my life is a mess.  As I think I've probably noted before, I'm very bad at this blogging though it really does interest me.  I have ideas of things that I want to blog but then I never do . . . .

As for knitting, I started and finished the Mesh Shawl from the current Vogue magazine.  I made it for myself but I think that I'm going to give it to someone instead.  I still need to make another one but I'll have to swatch to see how it looks.  My aunt wants me to knit her one out of this Cherry Tree Hill yarn.  The pattern calls for a worsted weight yarn on large needles but I'm going to try casting on more and using maybe a size 6 needle.  Anyway, I'm going to actually just do a swatch and let her see a picture of it to see if she likes the results.

I'm halfway done with the Fortissima Colori socks of the previous post (I'm more than halfway through turning the heel).  And I'm still working on the hemp sweater, Trekking Retro Ribs and scarves that I knit for a friend's business.

This is all I have for now but hopefully I'll complete something to post a picture of soon.  Oh, I will post a picture of the Mesh Shawl in the next few days!
