A Notion to Knit

To recap a little.  I spent the first few days of my trip at my Mom's.  And then we drove a few hours away to my grandparents, in San Antonio.  In San Antonio, we did a lot of visiting and just hanging out.

Some of the hanging out involved Boxer. He loves company. Plus we met up with a friend and on two different occasions went to the Yarn Barn. I actually intended for the first visit to be the only visit but could not stop thinking about a few things. On my first visit, I bought:

These two skeins of Noro Silk Garden Sock are going to be a pair of striped socks like Caro's. By the way, I have included tons ok several of pictures of the Noro if you like to look like I do. The next day when I went back, one thing I got was a cute knitting bag:

I still need to get photos of the other few things. So, I think that I'm leaving off here for tonight!

Lazy Listmaking

1. I'm so sleepy. If I've already mentioned this, sorry. But I have been especially tired ever since I got home last weekend. Tired tired. Sleepy sleepy.

2. As a result of #1, no pictures today. Tomorrow, I will do it earlier.

3. I need to figure out my "N" and "O".

4. The only Black Friday shopping I did was at Craft Warehouse. I went just to look and found something that I had never noticed and used a great coupon. Of course, I'm going to be a jerk and make that wait for blogging stuff!

5. "The David Letterman Show's" segment "Great Moments in Presidential History" is one of my favorite things.

6. There was no knitting today but I'm very close to turning the heel on my toe up Ruby Red knee highs. I am worried about that because I always have holes in my short row heels. No matter what! I'. Considering trying the toe up flap heel that Wendy (of Wendy Knits blog) has mentioned.

7. I am on my Blackberry (another sign of my laziness tonight) and so, cannot link.

Thanksgiving Day!

Yay, Happy Thanksgiving again. I know, the day is almost over. But, I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving Day doing whatever you wanted. We had a nice, lazy day. We slept late, watched the parade on TV and the adorable dog show, and then went out for Thanksgiving dinner at a buffet in the afternoon.

There was a line that reached outside, which we expected, so I took knitting along for the wait. Luckily, this line was actually short in the whole scheme of things. As we had dinner, I could see the line outside which was much longer than ours and reached across the front of the restaurant. The wait was worth it though.

I do miss cooking Thanksgiving Day dinner but this is very good. And someday, I'll have more room again so that I can cook like I want. Very good Thanksgiving Day!

I am going to move backwards just a bit in the blogging after this so that I can share a few pictures from Texas. And I have yarn to show from my traveling.

"M" is for Mom, showing off a new handknit too!

"M" is for Mom. I'll probably never put up a picture of my Mom on here. But, I like this one and I completed these socks for my Mom while visiting her this past week. My Mom is my favorite person to knit for besides myself of course (evil, right? but I adore handknit socks). And I have a lot of fun with her. In the really fun times together, we giggle and giggle together. And she's always ready with a smile. Of course, she's there for me. So, "M" is for Mom. -By the way, her birthday (was Monday) gift was an iPod! I got her an iPod Nano but forgot to take any pictures of it before I came home. She's enjoying it though, yay!

The socks that my Mom is wearing are the Stripes On The Go socks from summer (I think).

I tried to Photoshop them a bit to adjust the light but it didn't seem to help much. Sorry about that. One more recent shot up close, though a bit blurred from knitting.

The sock yarn is Trekking XXL, which I adore. One of my own pairs that I wear hard are from Trekking. I knit these on two circulars, Addi's US#2, cuff down. And I thought they were going to be for me at first but I knit the first one a bit short. Then, when my Mom said she liked them after seeing them on Flickr (in a way better picture than the ones I've posted, sorry about that), I decided that she should have them!

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow! It's my favorite holiday, by the way. F-a-v-o-r-i-t-e! See you tomorrow, full and happy.

not making it.

Clearly I have failed with NaBloPoMo, but I'm still going to push forward through the end of the month. I may even push myself to do the daily blogging next month. If not for my trip to Texas and all that it involved, I think I could have made it through from the day I joined.

I've been home since Sunday evening. I still don't feel settled though. I'm still very tired. So I will catch up and have some pictures to show. There's even a finished knit! Crazy exciting, for me. But, I'll save that for tomorrow.

Today has been a busy, busy day. My Mom and I surprised my grandparents with our visit. Its been a good visit, though sad. My Grandfather is very sick. (the typing guru on this BB wanted to type suck and yeah, that describes the situation.

We also went and met up with my friend L, who also happens to be my ex-MIL from long ago. That was a fun visit. And she gave me the lovely necklace in the photo. That aims up my day, generally. I need to put up better pictures when I have faster internet. That probably won't be until after I get home Sunday. So that's me for now. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

Missing 3 Days

Along with some housekeeping things that were top priority in the last week, I had several things to do for my trip (as seen in the packing lists above). And now I'm in Texas. So, that's what has been keeping me away for the last few days. I actually thought I would be able to keep up with this during that time, crazy. That would have only worked if I was a much more organized person. Heh, that makes me laugh.

I'm working on a hat right now for my other grandfather (other as opposed to the one that celebrated his birthday last weekend). I think that tomorrow I will have a finished photo to show for the hat. Warning now, the next couple of days posts may come from hubby's Blackberry. We'll see.

Last, I gave my Mom her birthday present early. It isn't until next Monday but I won't be here then. And I thought she might like some help with it. Hmm, photo of the prezzie tomorrow too.

Weekend Update

1.  Today was one of my grandfather's birthdays, 82 today.  November is a big birthday month for my Mom's family.  My Mom's is coming up the week of Thanksgiving and I can't wait for her to open her birthday present.  Exciting, eep.

2.  There are two movies coming out soon that I'd really like to see, "Transporter 3" and "Four Christmases".  First, I'm not normally into movies like the "Transporter" series but I'm a sucker for Jason Statham.  And I've been wanting to see these since seeing the trailers for them at two other movies.  We rarely go to movies.  Actually, we hadn't been to a movie theatre since 2003 until we went to see "My Best Friend's Girl" in September.  Then, in October we went to see "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist".  I really liked them both.  They were so funny.  I like Dane Cook a lot, his comedy is something else.  And Michael Cera was one reason for seeing "Nick and Norah's".  When we watched "Superbad", I was highly disappointed though to be fair I wasn't all that excited to see it beforehand either.  But, he was the one thing I thought was really good about it, very talented.

3.  The sock that you saw yesterday was ripped out not long after.  But, the contrasting toe has already been knit back up and is ready for the main color to be added.  I ripped because it was too big.  I've only completed a toe up sock one time and got all wrapped up in following the chart I'm using rather than my own experience (as far as numbers go).

Well, I thought I had more but without photos tonight I suppose not.  The knitting is really much better with photos.  Happy Weekend.

startitis

Yum, Socks That Rock. This is the second sock that I started today. I want to knit something different, something new but I don't know what. I was making great progress on my Central Park Hoodie but haven't picked it up since probably Wednesday. I need to rip out something like 40 rows. Yeah, I got a little carried away and went too far on my right front. Anyway, these will hopefully be knee highs with contrasting toes and heels. I say 'hopefully' because I don't know how far the yarn will take me but I'm doing them toe up so that I can use every bit.

In other news, I've been really busy getting ready for something next week and that's why I've almost forgotten about posting the last two days. Tomorow I'll do better. So, yeah, I'm almost ten minutes past midnight but I still feel good about posting something.
